JAPEX Participates in the United Nations Global Compact

Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX) has signed the United Nations Global Compact (hereinafter "UNGC") proposed by the United Nations and was registered as a participating company as of May 28, 2020. At the same time, we joined the Global Compact Network Japan, which is composed of Japanese companies that are signatories to the UNGC.

The UNGC is a voluntary initiative to create a global framework for companies and organizations to act as good members of society and achieve sustainable growth through responsible and creative leadership. The UNGC signatories are expected to continue their efforts to achieve the ten principles of protecting human rights, eliminating unfair labour, addressing the environment, and preventing corruption under the commitment of top executives.

Based on the consideration that our business activities themselves are one of the critical CSR priorities, JAPEX identified the core CSR themes "SHINE" in 2014 and set twelve individual challenges. Since then we have been promoting the challenges, including human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, as stipulated in the UNGC's ten principles. Through our participation in the UNGC and the promotion of SHINE, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and further enhance our corporate value.

Please refer our website about the core CSR themes "SHINE."
