JAPEX assembles its engineers and researchers engaged in oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) in the Technical Division to address a variety of technical issues.

In order to maintain and improve our technical capabilities, the Technical Division carries out activities such as the consolidation of elemental technologies, collection of up-to-date information, study of field deployment of new technology, and technical support and/or evaluation of domestic and international E&P operations.
