Effect by the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake

Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX) extends our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake occurred on September 6, 2018.

Our oil and gas production and supply facilities in Hokkaido was not damaged by the earthquake, including Yufutsu oil and gas field, Yufutsu LNG plant, and our natural gas pipelines. Our operation of natural gas production and supply to the Hokkaido area is being continued.

Although operations of the plant facilities were temporally suspended after the earthquake due to power failure across Hokkaido, our natural gas supply via pipelines had been continued, and operation of the plant facilities were re-started quickly by switching to the emergency power generator. The operation has been continued stably since then.

Also, the building of Hokkaido District Office located in the adjacent area of the facilities were not damaged by the earthquake.

JAPEX will continuously make efforts towards stable energy supply to the Hokkaido area.
