Held the Completion Ceremony of Abashiri Biomass 2nd and 3rd Power Plants

Abashiri Biomass Power 2 LLC. and Abashiri Biomass Power 3 LLC. (hereinafter "the SPCs" for the two companies together), which are sponsored by the six companies, including Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), held the completion ceremony of Abashiri Biomass 2nd and 3rd Power Plant (hereinafter "the Power Plants" for the two plants together), those started its commercial operation in October 2022 and March 2023 respectively, on June 12, 2023. 

The ceremony was attended by 53 guests, including the mayor of Abashiri City, local government officials, EPCs, fuel suppliers, and the six sponsors of the SPCs, which are JAPEX, MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL COMPANY, INC., SMFL MIRAI Partners Company, Limited, TOKYO ENERGY & SYSTEMS INC., WIND-SMILE Co., Ltd. (WS), and Nippon Paper Lumber Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "the Six Sponsors" for the six companies together). 

The Power Plants has an output capacity of 9,900kW each (total of 19,800kW) and uses 100% domestic wood chips made from woods in Hokkaido as fuel. The electricity generated by the Power Plants of approximately 140 million kWh per year is sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc. using the FIT system. The Six Sponsors supports the SPC's works, and the SPCs outsource the specific works for operation and management of the Power Plants to the Six Sponsors based on each capabilities. As part of this effort, JAPEX Green Energy Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of JAPEX, has been entrusted with the asset management works of the SPCs. 

In corporation with the Six Sponsors and related companies, JAPEX will continue to contribute to expanding and increasing the electricity from renewable power with low environmental impact and to further develop the local economies, with the understanding and support of the local stakeholders.
