Natural gas/LNG supplied by JAPEX

日本語English

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is the liquefied form of natural gas, cooled to minus 162 degrees Celsius for liquefaction. Most of the LNG supplied to Japan is imported.

JAPEX ensures a stable supply of natural gas to its clients, both domestically produced  and imported as LNG.

Characteristics of LNG

LNG is produced by cooling natural gas to minus 162 degrees Celsius for liquefaction. This process reduces the volume of natural gas to approximately one six-handredth of its original size , enabling efficient  long-distance transportation via tank trucks, railway tank containers, and large-scale  storage in tanks.

Furthermore, LNG has recently gained attention as a relatively low-emission fossil fuels compared  to oil and coal. Specifically, LNG combustion produces significantly less  carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx), a majorcontributor to acid rainfall and air pollution. Moreover,it produces nosulfur oxide (SOx), soot,or dust.

Natural Gas/LNG Supply Areas

JAPEX transports and supplies gas or LNG in its original liquefied form to our clients in optimal methods to their specific needs. We offer the following services:

  • High-pressure gas pipelines: We supply by blending domestically mixing produced natural gas with vaporized LNG.
  • LNG Satellite System: We transport LNG in its liquid state via tank trucks.
  • LNG Bunkering:We supply LNG directly to LNG-fueled vessels.
  • Transportation between LNG terminals:For terminals unable to receive LNG vessels, we utilize our domestic LNG carrier, the Akebono-Maru, for LNG transport.
