CCS Efforts Overseas

日本語English

With support from JOGMEC, JAPEX is also advancing the "Offshore Sarawak, Malaysia CCS Project." In addition, JAPEX has invested in a combined project in the United States involving CCS and the production of natural gas and helium.

Offshore Sarawak, Malaysia CCS Project

Offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, is one of the largest potential storage sites in Asia, suitable for developing CCS/CCUS clusters utilizing depleted oil and gas fields.

With national support as a JOGMEC Advanced CCS Project since FY2024, the aim is to build a large-scale cross-border CCS value chain in which CO₂ separated and captured by multiple emitters in Malaysia, Japan and other countries will be transported, injected and stored underground.
