
- We, at JAPEX, would like to support each employee in setting individual career goal, and achieving them through proactive learning. In a large-scale project, work is done by a dedicated team of individuals who have high expertise, leadership, negotiation skills and/or management skills. As deep understanding and experience are required, we believe employee training must be designed on a long-term basis.
- We, at JAPEX, consider there to be 3 steps in the growth stage. For the first 5 years, there is the Competence Nurturing period; the next period would be the Competence Development period, and then the Competence Exertion period, whereby effective transfer and assignment of personnel will take place. Career development interviews and career training will take place to help in career building.

- From entering the company to 30 years old
As a non-technical staff, the first 5 years will be a period of nurturing; you will be assigned to 2 different departments in order for you to gain experience, and for the Human Resources Department to understand your aptitude.
As a technical staff, your job will be decided through recruiting process - either G&G or Engineering. If you apply for a G&G staff, you are further divided into two fields of specialty – Geology field and Geophysics field. On the other hand, the Engineering staff will not be assigned jobs on entry of the company. You will eventually be divided into drilling engineers and production engineers. The latter will divide into production, facility, and reservoir engineering.
Both non-technical and technical staff will gain experience by working overseas.
- From 30's to mid-40's
Both non-technical and technical staff will gain experience and improve in their expertise. You will be able to choose between the Professional course, where your expertise is mastered and put to full use, and the Management course, where you will exert your management skills.
- Competence exertion period (late-30’s onwards)
You will take on various roles and responsibilities, where you will exert your expertise.
