GCCSI is an international organization established in 2009, led by the Australian Government. Its international memberships include governments, global corporations, private companies, research bodies, and non-governmental organizations. GCCSI shares expertise and data regarding CCS to accelerate the deployment of CCS technologies worldwide.

JAPEX recognizes that CCS/CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage) is an essential technology to achieve net-zero. Under the recognition, we have been working toward the practical application of CO2 injection and storage technology and the launch of the CCS/CCUS project, based on the expertise acquired by oil and natural gas development and production (E&P: exploration and production). Besides, we position our efforts for CCS/CCUS as one of the priority items for the medium- to long-term on "JAPEX 2050" as our carbon neutral direction and objective developed in May 2021 and "JAPEX Management Plan 2022-2030" formulated in March 2022.

By utilizing GCCSI's expertise and membership networks for our further efforts regarding CCS/CCUS, JAPEX aims to contribute to realize carbon-neutral society by 2050.
