JAPEX contributes to society through stable supply of energy, and solve social issues to realize sustainable development agendas.

JAPEX Group Code of Ethics and Conduct

To realize our Corporate Vision and sustain as a company trusted by society, we hereby establish the JAPEX Group Code of Ethics and Conduct, which provides corporate ethics standards and principles of action to be adhered by all officers and employees.

  1. Comply with applicable laws and regulations, and respect international code of conduct
  2. Place top priority on HSE (health, safety and environment)
  3. Strive to maintain trust with stakeholders and to contribute to society
  4. Respect the human rights of all people
  5. Make efforts to create a good working environment
  6. Engage in fair and free competition and maintain appropriate trading practices
  7. Maintain sound and transparent relationships with politicians, political parties and government officials/agencies
  8. Stand firmly and exclude relationship to any anti-social forces
  9. Pay careful attention to managing and protecting confidential information and personal/clients’ data

Specific Actions Based On the JAPEX Group Code of Ethics and Conducts

1. Comply with applicable laws and regulations, and respect international code of conduct

  • Understand and comply with business-related laws and regulations accurately and respect international norms

2. Place top priority on HSE (health, safety and environment)

  • Keep always conscious of occupational safety and health, and work to secure them and prevent occupational accidents
  • Give maximum attention to environmental protection and reduction of environmental impact through our business activities
  • Make hard efforts to the promotion of energy conservation and reduction of greenhouse gas emission for the contribution to realizing a low-carbon society

3. Strive to maintain trust with stakeholders and to contribute to society

  • Pay attention to the various interest of our stakeholders (clients, business partners, shareholders and investors, local communities, employees, etc.), and aim to realize mutual benefits by our actions meeting their expectations
  • Provide information to stakeholders in a timely, appropriately, and fair manner and engage active and continuous communications
  • Develop safe and reliable products and services, and make efforts to supply them safe and stable
  • Take close communication with stakeholders including quick information sharing when occurring accident or problem of our products or services

4. Respect the human rights of all people

  • Recognize and respect human rights as a universal concept that everyone has equality
  • Respect international norms of human rights and not to do or engage in discriminations or harassments of any kind such as on the basis of gender, age, nationality, race, skin color, culture, customs, religion, sexual orientation, and disabilities
  • Prohibit forced labor and child labor, and do not take complicit action to them

5. Make efforts to create a good working environment

  • Keep actions to create a good working environment enhancing our diverse of employees to accept each other and to fulfill the abilities
  • Improve work-life balance and support the mental and physical health of employees
  • Respect diverse individual values, personality, and privacy, and never engage in discriminatory treatment and harassment of moral, sexual, power, and others

6. Engage in fair and free competition and maintain appropriate trading practices

  • Comply with the antimonopoly laws, the unfair competition prevention act, and competition laws in various foreign countries
  • Aim to be fair and impartial when the selection of suppliers and contractors, with building sound relationships
  • Do the business transaction on appropriate conditions
  • Act within the scope of common social sense when giving/receiving gifts or entertainment to/from clients, suppliers, contractors, and business partners

7. Maintain sound and transparent relationships with politicians, political parties and government officials/agencies

  • Comply with domestic and international anti-bribery laws and regulations, and never take any action to be misinterpreted as a benefit or coalition with government or administrative authorities
  • Build a highly transparent relationship allowing the open and proactive exchange of opinions with government or administrative authorities, and have constructive dialogue, including policy proposals and opinions expression

8. Stand firmly and exclude relationship to any anti-social forces

  • Have no relationship with anti-social forces and exclude them firmly
  • Do not respond to unreasonable demands by anti-social forces and never engage in back deals and fact concealment

9. Pay careful attention to managing and protecting confidential information and personal/clients’ data

  • Manage to protect information assets from falsification, destruction, and leakage and to keep appropriately and safety
  • Manage to treat confidential, personal, and clients’ information, including disclosed by others, with extreme attention and to use them only for business purposes by authorized persons
  • Recognize the importance of intellectual property and manage it appropriately
  • Do not engage in any insider transactions
